Construct Calendars

Hospitals enter data for units open to students for clinical educational experiences. In addition to details about the unit, the hospital specifies a calendar of availability in terms of dates, hours, and the number of students that can be accommodated.

Search and Schedule

Hospitals approve or reject a booking request entirely or partially. The CAHS database is updated automatically to reflect real-time opportunities, making it impossible to double-book.

Schools search availability by user-defined criteria, such as county, patient age, date range, day of week, type of unit, and specialty. Schools enter data reflecting the types of courses being taught, which is automatically attached to requests for calendars so that hospitals will have some insight into the students coming.

Specify Orientation

CAHS allows hospitals to enter requirements for both instructors and students at their institution, permitting hospitals to keep incoming groups apprised of the requirements and to communicate any changes as they happen. Online training programs cover many mandatory topics and CAHS permits hospitals to indicate which of these online programs are acceptable at their institution.

Preferred-Partners

CAHS seeks to balance respect for long term relationships with creating new ones. The system is designed to let hospitals define which schools have preferential access to certain units. This supports existing relationships and at the same time, provides new opportunities for all as well.

Self-Schedule

CAHS is also designed to allow for self-scheduling to facilitate reservations of groups such as firefighters and police who rely on hospitals for clinical experiences.

Produce Reports

Schools can produce reports to quantify and track student volumes by hospital, unit, and instructor. Reports are available to quantify and track reservations, capacity, and utilization by department and unit, or by course. This may be especially helpful for those who are required to report details on the student training opportunities offered to the community for educational purposes.
